ALBANY — According to the Mental Health Association and NAMI, the holidays can be a difficult time for mental health consumers and their families.
With increased stress, and the social effects felt from living with a mental illness in the family, support and learning ways to reduce stress are key.
NAMI and Byne Church’s new ministry “Renewed Minds,” along with their regular meetings in December, will be combining efforts at a “Holiday Gathering” from 3-7 p.m. Dec. 17 at Byne Church.
The meeting is for the public to become more familiar with the groups. Featured will be food, drink, Christmas music, games and more. Registration is required before Dec. 14.
Other meeting planned in December include:
Tuesday, Dec. 6 — Renewed Minds- faith based support group for family members and consumers held from 7-8:30 p.m. at Byne Church.
Tuesday, Dec. 13 — NAMI Night — one hour of education followed by one hour support groups for both family members and consumers held at Phoebe Northwest from 6:30-8:30 p.m.
Tuesday, Dec. 27 — NAMI Support Groups — from 6:30-8 p.m. at Phoebe Northwest — separate groups for family members and consumers.
