Santa visiting early for breakfast

ALBANY — Youngsters in the Albany area will have an opportunity Saturday to do a couple of fun things — meet Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus and enjoy a pancake and sausage breakfast.

Breakfast with Santa will be conducted from 8 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at American Legion Walter H. Burt Post 30, 2916 Gillionville Road, under the sponsorship of The Albany Herald’s Newspapers in Education program.

Through The Herald’s NIE program, about 1,000 newspapers are distributed to school classrooms each weekday. The Herald offers the newspapers at a greatly reduced price to the schools. The cost is covered by local businesses and organizations.

Herald Circulation Director Michael Hill said additional sponsors are needed to continue the NIE program. Sponsorships are available at a cost ranging from $50 to $1,500 annually.

Admission to the event is $5 and includes visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus and a breakfast. Hill said Santa will pose for photographs. Photography can be provided by The Herald on-site, but those attending can bring their own cameras.

Hill said all proceeds from the event will be used to financially support the NIE program. This is the second year The Herald has conducted the NIE Breakfast with Santa event.
