A 2003 white Chevrolet Trailblazer SUV flipped on Dawson Road after an Albany man drove his 2007 green Dodge Charger into the side of it. The SUV pulled out of an Albany Mall exit at about 1:40 p.m. Saturday.
ALBANY — A man driving a 2007 green Dodge Charger slammed into a 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer SUV as the SUV headed out of the Albany Mall exit onto Dawson Road at about 1:40 p.m. Saturday, said an Albany Police Department official. The crash flipped the SUV over on its roof.
Police spokeswoman, Phyllis Banks said Ellaville residents Christopher Wainright, 33, his wife Marie, 31, and their infant son, Lawrence, were taken from the SUV to a hospital. The Charger driver Jason Dawkins, 22, of Albany, was also taken to the hospital.
Banks added Wainright was charged with failure to yield after stopping at a stop sign and not having his seat belt on. Dawkins was charged with not having his seat belt on.
Albany Fire Department and Dougherty County EMS responded to the crash. There was no need for emergency responders to use extrication equipment to get anyone out of the smashed vehicles, stated a fire department official. No information on the crash victims’ condition was immediately available.
