MACON -- Led by a big night from Tierranna Martin (nine points, 14 rebounds), The Herald No. 2 Dougherty girls beat Northeast Macon, 52-32, in the Great Southern Shootout on Saturday at Westside Macon to improve to 5-1.
Quennesha Gatlin added 13 points in the win, while Ra'Keta Shelton and Jayla Hooper each scored nine.Dougherty returns to the tournament Wednesday and will face Rutland.
WESTWOOD GIRLS 56, DAVID EMANUEL 18: The Lady Wildcats improved to 9-0 thanks to 18 points from Miller Singleton and 12 from Callie Smith.
Westwood next plays Dec. 27 in Macon against Bulloch Academy.
DWS BOYS 50, PINEWOOD 41, OT: The Knights survived to win their fifth game in a row in overtime after being down most of the game.
Weston King led DWS with 17 points, followed by 13 from Ramello Carter and 11 from Sam Shellhaas.
DWS (7-1) returns to action Dec. 28 at the Border Wars Tournament against Lee County (Ala.).
WORTH COUNTY GIRLS 71, BAKER COUNTY 47: Worth was led by Quanderia Bentley (20 points), as well as Sierra Ausby (15), Tykeria Tinsley (11), Shanna Tucker (11) and Andrea Davis (10). Baker was led by Cierra Hawkins (13 points), Aneesiah Owens (12) and Brittany Ware (11).
PINEWOOD GIRLS 54, DEERFIELD 47: The Lady Knights (8-2) lost to an unbeaten Pinewood team, despite 15 points from Courtney Kelson.
The loss snapped a two-game win streak by DWS.
DWS (8-2) returns to action Dec. 28 at the Border Wars Tournament against Glennwood (Ala.).
BAINBRIDGE boys 74, RICKARDS (Fla.) 48: Trey Kelly led with 20 points, Rodney Glenn added 13 and Dontavious Marshall finished with 12 as The Herald No. 4 Bearcats won both games of the Georgia-Florida Shootout to improve to 5-2.
Bainbridge returns to action on Tuesday at Tift County.
CRISP ACADEMY GIELS 46, WESTFIELD 35: Madi Mitchell scored 20, Jay Jay Yawn added 13 and the Lady Wildcats improved to 7-3.
Crisp will next play Dec. 28 in a Christmas tournament in Phenix City, Ala.
