VALDOSTA -- Ann Burns Lewis, 59, of Valdosta, died Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Friday, December 23, 2011 at Midway Free Will Baptist Church in Moultrie with the Rev. Randy Jackson and the Rev. William Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Midway Cemetery.
Casketbearers will be Josh Justice, Tim Tart, Joey Fitzgerald, John Womble, Joel Paulk, and Curtis Knight.
Born December 1, 1952 in Bainbridge, GA, she was the daughter of the late John William Burns and Mamie Arlene Strickland Perry. She was a graduate of Georgia Southern University and taught Social Studies and Reading at Pine Grove Middle School in Lowndes County. She was a member of Open Door Fellowship Free Will Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Marie Payne.
Survivors include her husband, William S. "Bill" Lewis of Valdosta; two sons, William S. Lewis III of Valdosta and John Burns Lewis of Moultrie; one daughter, Annie Burns Lewis of Valdosta; one sister, Duane Harrell of Albany; her mother-in-law, Helen Lewis of Moultrie; three grandchildren, Maddux Lewis and Sophie Lewis, both of Moultrie and Addy Belcher of Valdosta.
The family received friends from 6:00 PM-8:00 PM Thursday, December 22, 2011 at Cobb Funeral Chapel in Moultrie.
