Surveillance cameras caught a thief in action at Bio Buzz in Albany.
ALBANY — A '70s style head shop that law enforcement raided for drug sales in October fell victim to a robbery of opportunity at about 4:30 p.m. Saturday.
A man walked into the Bio Buzz store at 612 N. Slappey Blvd. to buy a cigarette or bum some money and ended up stealing two tip jars from the counter, stated an Albany Police Department report.
As of 7:45 p.m. Monday police had an unnamed person of interest in custody, said Phyllis Banks, police spokeswoman. After they question him, Banks said additional information including any charges will be released.
Bio Buzz is familiar with criminal charges. After a year's surveillance of the store, Albany-Dougherty Drug Unit officers raided the business in October. The officers confiscated what they said were illegal bath-salt drugs and 10 one-gallon plastic bags of a green leafy substance believed to be an illegal substance known as "spice."
Spice is the street name for a marijuana substitute that is a Schedule I controlled substance. The other suspected drugs fall into a bath-salt family that has been illegal in Georgia since May and nationally since Sept. 7.
The business is owned by Stephen Bradford, who was charged with felony drug possession, Drug Unit Maj. Berry said in October. Others employed at the shop also face arrests.
