ALBANY Sears Holdings Corp. has included six Georgia stores -- one Sears and five Kmarts -- in its initial list of 79 stores that it plans to close.
None of the stores are located in Albany, which has both a Sears and a Kmart.
Sears says it will close its store at the Macon mall, one of dozens of stores the company says it will close as a result of poor holiday sales.
Sears says it's also closing Kmarts in Buford, Columbus, Douglasville, Jonesboro and southwest Atlanta.
The company said earlier this week that it would close up to 120 stores around the country.

Thank goodness. How the K Mart has stayed open, I'll never figure out. The Sears store would be a more devastating loss, as it is an anchor store in the mall. The entire mall would be in jeopardy if Sears closed.

I know, where would I get my Kenmore appliances if they were to close? I would really miss Sears.

So far so good, but it ain't over yet. I'm not surprised our kmart survived the first cut. I shop there more that Walmart because it's more convenient to get to. Hope they both stay off the final list.
