Squawk of the day - Jan. 1, 2012

"There is a message that should be repeated often to every high school student: Get a good education and you will be able to get a good, well-paying job and enjoy a fulfilling life. If you don’t study and/or drop out, you go to the streets and drift into crime; you will spend most of your life locked up in prison."

And don't tolerate those that do.

Beautiful message and yes, you are right....do not cheat and do not tolerate it. My message to my lazy kids was READ READ READ..if you can read and comprehend the world would be their oyster.......they both hated to read and were so bored with school. I tried everything and finally hit on the solution...MAGAZINES!! I gave them subscriptions to every magazine they wanted as long as they read them and they did...magazines about dogs, cats, horses, teen singing idols for the girl and motocross racing, model building, and as he got older, cars for the boy. They read and read until I thought they would never stop. They enjoyed reading so much the only time they wanted to see TV was if there was a bike race or a Partridge Family show on. The reading led to them getting an excellent education and good careers in well paying jobs and now they are encouraging their children to READ READ READ and it is paying off. It saddens me to think of the children that were denied the wonderful joy of reading. Think of all they are missing in life and how much their lives could have been improved if someone had just taken the time to CARE.
