Darrick Johnson, 16, escaped injury today (Feb. 4, 2011) when a freight train collided with his Honda Accord as he crossed railroad tracks while traveling south on Madison Street at 1:50 p.m. Traffic was blocked on north-south routes from Madison to Washington Street for about an hour.

ALBANY, Ga. -- After being shutdown for about an hour following a car collision with a train, traffic on several north-south routes through Albany is flowing again.

Darrick Johnson, 16, said he was on his way to Darton when the train hit his 1994 Honda Accord as he crossed the tracks while traveling south on Madison Street. Johnson was uninjured.

The accident occurred about 1:50 p.m. Traffic was blocked from Madison Street to Washington Street.

There is no stop sign at the collision site and Johnson said he did not hear the train whistle before his car was hit.

There is no word yet as to whether any charges will be filed.
