APD responds to break-ins

ALBANY -- The Albany Police Department is currently looking into two Saturday incidents.

The first occurred at the Rent-A-Center located at 100 S. Slappey Blvd. at 5:50 a.m. Officers noticed that the northern-most window had been broken, and that a Phillips 42-inch flat-screen TV had been taken.

"The officers reported that an unknown subject(s) entered through a front window. Once inside, the (TV) was taken," said Phyllis Banks, spokeswoman for the APD.

At around 11 p.m., the SB&T at 401 Pine Ave. was broken into through the facility's roof.

"Once they (the suspects) got inside, the alarm went off and they fled the scene," said Banks. "The incident remains under investigation."

In an e-mail sent to The Herald early Sunday, Banks said that it was not known if anything was taken from the bank, and that no arrests had been made. There was also no word on surveillance video.

When contacted Monday afternoon, Banks stated that there were no new developments.
