The region tournaments for local GISA schools begin today as Deerfield, Sherwood, Southland, Terrell Academy, SGA, Westwood and Randolph Southern are all in action.
In Region 3-AA, Deerfield's boys and girls are the No. 1 seeds and have first-round byes, while the same is true for Sherwood's boys. All three will open the tournament -- held at Darton -- on Thursday as Deerfield's boys will face today's winner between Southland-Tiftarea, while Sherwood will face the Westfield-Calvary winner. Deerfield's girls await the winner Sherwood-Southland. The tourney continues Saturday with the girls and boys championship games at 5 and 6:30 p.m., respectively.
In the Region 3-AA tourney being held in Dawson, the TAE girls enter as the No. 2 seed and have a first-round bye. They'll play the winner of today's first round between Fullington and SGA on Thursday at 4 p.m. SGA's boys will face Terrell's boys today in early-round action at 8:30 p.m., with the winner playing No. 2 Fullington on Thursday. The girls and boys title games will be played Friday at 7 and 8:30 p.m., respectively.
In Region 3-A, there are only four teams, and all are in action today. Westwood's girls play Georgia Christian today at 4 p.m., while Westwood's boys play Randolph Southern at 5:30 p.m., followed by the girls and boys championship games Friday at 7 and 8:30 p.m., respectively. The 3-A tournament is being held at Crisp Academy.
