ALBANY, Ga. -- One of the city's biggest praise and gospel entertainment events is set for Saturday at the Albany Civic Center as organizers prepare for upward of 3,000 people.
Doors will open for the Family Reunion Fest 2011 at 2:30 p.m. with the show to begin at 4 p.m., Assistant City Manager Wes Smith said.
At least 13 acts were listed on the flyer for the event and Smith said that the event is consistently one of the city's largest and most well attended.
"This is a repeat show; they come year after year and it's quite popular," Smith said. "We usually get anywhere from 2,500 to 3,000 people and its a consistent crowd from all over the area."
Tickets for the event are $30 in advance and $35 at the door and can be purchased through ticketmaster or by calling the Civic Center Box Office at (229) 430-5204.
The event will cap a busy weekend downtown and throughout the city.
The RiverQuarium and Thronateeska Heritage Museum are partnering for a special Sweetheart Deal Package and the Riverquarium is giving $500 to the winner of a turtle race Saturday afternoon.
The city's parks and recreation department is partnering with the Albany Museum of Art to host a family day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Saturday at the museum, which is free to the public and will feature interactive exhibits and activities for families and children.
