DAWSON -- The Terrell Academy girls basketball team, which is the defending Class A state champs but moved to Class AA this offseason, took another big step to get back to Milledgeville on Thursday when it easily handled Calvary Christian, 68-23, to improve to 9-3 on the year.
Maura Milliron led the way with 18 points, followed Millie Foster with 14.
The Lady Eagles play again today when they travel to Valwood for a 6:30 p.m. tip.
The news, however, was not as good for the boys team, which is now 0-10 after falling to Calvary, 59-45, on Thursday. The Eagles have been without four of its starters for most of the season -- Blake Grimsley, Jonathan Farr, Levi Griffin and Chandler Freeman -- but are slowly getting the core of their team back. Grimsley, who scored three points in the loss to Calvary, was the first to return last month, followed by Farr, who played for the first time all year Thursday and led the way with 18, followed by 10 from Clay Willis. Griffin and Freeman are still out injured.
The boys game at Valwood today tips at 8 p.m.
