APD: Juvenile arrested for theft

ALBANY, Ga. -- Police placed a juvenile in custody Friday in connection with a theft caught on a convenience store surveillance video Dec. 20, an Albany Police Department official said.

"A citizen was able to identify the juvenile suspect in the surveillance video and called Police," said APD spokeswoman Phyllis Banks. "The juvenile was arrested on Friday and charged with robbery by snatching."

No additional information on the arrest was immediately available from police, Banks added.

Dressed in a camouflage jacket and hat, the juvenile in the video walked up to the counter in full view of the camera at the Hav-More Food Store on the 2200 block of West Gordon Avenue.

The juvenile then turned and snatched an undetermined amount of cash from 60-year-old Benjamin Bennett and ran away. The entire incident lasted less than a minute, according to time stamps on the video.
