NORMAN PARK, Ga.: Three volunteer fire stations fought a blaze overnight at a poultry farm in Colquitt County, fire officials say.
The fire, whose cause is unknown at this point, was raging at International Poultry Breeders on Perry Batts Road around 12:17 a.m. when the first units were dispatched out, officials say.
One chicken house was a complete loss, but the Norman Park, Ellenton and Northside Volunteer fire crews were able to save an adjacent chicken house which was threatened by the fire.
There were no reports of human injuries, although a large number of chickens, rumored to be in the thousands, were killed.
