ALBANY, Ga. -- Officers with the Albany Police Department stayed busy early Monday and over the weekend chasing down robbery suspects from three separate crime scenes.

The most recent one was at 8:12 a.m. Monday at the Hanu QuickStop on the 700 block of Johnson Road, where officers were called in concerning an armed robbery.

"An unknown male, armed with a handgun, entered the business and demanded money from the register," Phyllis Banks, APD spokeswoman, said. "An employee complied with his demands and the suspect fled the store with an undetermined amount of money."

The APD, along with the Dougherty County Police Department and deputies from the Dougherty County Sheriff's Office, canvassed the area for an hour after the incident but were unable to locate the suspect.

The gunman was wearing blue jeans, a dark puffy jacket and a mask. No physical description was immediately available.

In a separate incident that took place just before 1 a.m. Monday, an unknown individual gained entry into Easy Pay Auto Credit at 951 W. Oglethorpe Blvd. through a back window. Once inside, two computer towers, as well as various files and paperwork, were stolen.

A trash bin containing the files was recovered on West Broad Avenue and returned to the business. There had been no suspects identified Monday night.

In the early hours of Saturday morning, an incident occurred at Three Corners Fish and Chicken on the 1900 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. Just before 2 a.m., someone riding in on a bike tampered with and removed a window located on the north side of the building.

A few minutes later, a burglar removed the window pane and then entered the business to take a flat-screen television. At 4:10 a.m., a burglar wearing different clothing entered through the same window and took the cash register.

Authorities believe the two robberies at the restaurant were connected.

"Detectives believe it was only one suspect who committed this burglary," Banks said.
