ALBANY -- A one-vehicle accident was responsible for a traffic back-up in Lee County Monday afternoon.

A driver in a Ford Expedition ran into a utility pole at 3:15 p.m. near the intersection of U.S. Highway 19 North and Cedric Street, said Lorraine Anderson, an operator with the Georgia State Patrol.

Officials with the Department of Transportation, the GSP and the Lee County Sheriff's Office were at the wreck site Monday night -- which is located just north of the Dougherty-Lee County line. Crews from Georgia Power were also on the scene repairing the pole.

Officials with the GSP said there was one vehicle involved in the crash, which resulted in traffic on the road being completely blocked until at least 7:45 p.m. There were no known injuries as a result of the incident.

The GSP also confirmed that the driver had been taken into custody, but would not release a name.

The exact cause of the crash was unconfirmed as of press time.

Lee County officials confirmed Monday night that there were some power outages in the area near the wreck but that they were unsure whether they were connected with the incident.
