ALBANY -- The Albany Police Department is currently investigating a break-in that occurred at a local grocery store.
The burglary took place at the Winn-Dixie at 200 E. Oakridge Drive at 5:10 a.m. Sunday after an unknown person gained entry by removing glass from a window frame.
"(An) unknown suspect took out the window at the front of the business," an e-mail sent out by Phyllis Banks, APD spokeswoman.
"He entered without setting off the alarm and went to the service counter where the cigarettes are located. He grabbed an unknown quantity of cigarettes and left the store through the same entry point.
"The suspect left the scene in an unknown make, model vehicle."
The store has a history of previous break-ins.
In May 2010, Jeffery Beasley and Trevis Johnson were both arrested for burglary and theft by receiving after coming into the facility through an empty cooler at the rear of the store and taking several cases of beer and cigarettes.
In the incident that took place last year, law enforcement officers caught up with the suspects, along with the property they took, on Vick Street several hours later.
