ALBANY, Ga. -- A thief pulled a man from a car at about 1:30 p.m. Thursday, beat him and stole his money. A woman driving the car took part in the beating and robbery, police said.
Meantime, in a 5:30 a.m. Friday burglary, a thief cut two women who were defending their home.
An overweight, bald burglar forced his way into an apartment through a door off a carport at 1401 Owens Ave. cut two women who fought him and ran with nothing, said an Albany Police Department report.
"When the victims made contact with the suspect demanding money and car keys, the victims fought back in a hallway going to the kitchen," said Phyllis Banks, police spokeswoman. "When they reached the kitchen the suspect took a knife and cut a woman on the upper chest and on a finger."
LaTasha Johnson, 35, suffered the cuts to the chest and finger, Banks said. She was treated at the apartment by Dougherty County EMS.
Johnson's sister, Earnestine Smith-Haggins, 33, also suffered injury but Banks had no information about the injuries other than to report they were minor.
Two other women were in the apartment at the time of the burglary.
Saneitha Smith, 19, and Jamara Crocket, 21, were uninjured.
Banks said, "We don't advise that, but we have some citizens who fight back for what is theirs. We don't advise that. Give up the property."
The attacker is described as completely bald, with a mustache and goatee, in his mid-30s, 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing a stocky 270 pounds.
In another violent case, Andrew Strickland was taken from his female companion's green Honda, beaten and robbed at about 1:30 p.m. Thursday. His female companion, Kelly Howard, 32, drove the car and joined in beating and robbing Strickland.
Strickland, 25, of Albany, was in the passenger seat when the car was struck in the rear on the 500 block of Eighth Avenue by another car, driven by Michael Eugene Bailey, 42, possibly a white or silver Lincoln or Lexus, Banks said.
"The driver of the second vehicle (Bailey) walked over to Strickland's vehicle, pulled him out and struck him several times with his fists," Banks said. "Once Strickland was on the ground, his female companion (Howard) also began striking him."
After the attack, the duo stole Strickland's wallet with an undetermined amount of cash, along with Strickland's boots, and knife, according to the police report. Howard drove away in her Honda and Bailey drove away in his car.
Howard turned herself in at 4:30 p.m. Friday. Police are searching for Bailey.
There were at least three witnesses driving by who gave statements to the police. No other information such as descriptions of the thieves was available on this active case.
