APD responds to criminal trespass incident

ALBANY -- The Albany Police Department is investigating a criminal trespass incident that involved a firearm.

The incident took place at 4 a.m. Tuesday at 654 W. Society Ave. The victim, Keishonta Green, said she was in her room watching television when she heard a loud noise coming from outside.

When she went outside she found her vehicle damaged and a bullet shell stuck inside the rear passenger window. A witness stated that two black males started shooting in his direction and drove away in a Dodge Durango.

There were no known suspects as of the filing of the police report. The case remains active.

Arrest made for firearm discharge

ALBANY -- A man was arrested at 11:30 p.m. Monday for discharging a firearm in East Albany.

While an Albany Police Department officer was patrolling the 400 block of Sands Drive, the officer observed the shadow of a male firing a handgun pointed in the air about 60 yards from the roadway.

The man was identified as Michael Brown, 21, who had a .40 caliber handgun. The magazine was empty but it was warm to the touch. Brown was taken into custody and booked into the Dougherty County Jail.

APD responds to at least 40 incidents

ALBANY -- The Albany Police Department responded to at least 40 incidents Monday and into the early hours of Tuesday. The reports included:

-- Possession of less than one ounce of marijuana on the 100 block of North Slappey Boulevard and on the 1300 block of Evelyn Avenue;

-- Criminal trespass on the 200 block of Kalmon Avenue and on the 400 block of Robinson Avenue;

-- Burglary on the 2100 block of West Waddell Avenue and on the 2600 block of Crossbow Court;

-- Simple battery on the 900 block of Corn Avenue and on the 2500 block of Buck Court;

-- Terroristic threats and acts on the 1700 block of Gadsden Drive and on the 300 block of West Mercer Avenue;

-- Dog bite on the 1500 block of Westwood Drive;

-- Probation violation on the 1300 block of Mulberry Avenue;

-- Domestic dispute (unfounded) on the 2600 block of Pine Valley Road and on the 2400 block of South Washington Street;

-- Open container in a vehicle on the 1100 block of Clark Avenue;

-- Public indecency (saggy pants) on the 600 block of Blaylock Street;

-- Urinating in public on the 100 block of West Oglethorpe Boulevard;

-- Theft of a pressure washer on the 1600 block of Lynwood Lane;

-- Disorderly conduct on the 1700 block of Palmyra Road and on the 2300 block of Palmyra Road;

-- Theft by taking on the 400 block of West Tift Avenue and on the 500 block of Eighth Avenue;

-- Stalking on the 400 block of Wells Avenue;

-- Recovered contraband on the 200 block of Cordele Road. Someone approached an officer at the East Albany Walmart at 8:40 p.m. Monday in regards to a small bag containing a leafy substance believed to be marijuana near his vehicle. The substance was logged into evidence and no further action was taken.

-- Battery on the 100 block of West Oglethorpe Boulevard;

-- Recovered property on the 800 block of Seventh Avenue;

-- Forgery in the 1st degree on the 1700 block of East Oglethorpe Boulevard;

-- Window tint violation on the 800 block of Mitchell Avenue;

-- Theft by shoplifting on the 2600 block of Dawson Road.

ALBANY FIRE: The Albany Fire Department responded to at least 44 incidents from Friday through the early hours of Monday. The reports included EMS assistance, grass fires, a woods fire on Lockett Station Road, trash fires, a power line down, shorted wiring, a vehicle fire, a short in an air conditioning unit and an overheated motor.
