ALBANY, Ga. -- In response to a classmate's fatal shooting, Albany State University students plan a candlelight vigil at 7:30 p.m. today.
Macon resident Bruce Mullen, 20, was a junior majoring in healthcare management at ASU. He was fatally shot at about 12:18 a.m. June 30 at the Hidden Oaks Apartment Home complex. Two men are in Dougherty County Jail charged with murder in connection with the shooting.
"The vigil will begin at the ACAD Auditorium," said Cindy Montgomery, ASU spokeswoman. "It will move along the pedestrian mall to the grave of Dr. Joseph Winthrop Holly, ASU's founder, near the L. Orene hall Building on campus."
According to a Jones Brothers Mortuary obituary, Mullen was buried Wednesday in Middle Georgia Memory Gardens after a service at St. Paul A.M.E. Church, Macon.
Mullen graduated in 2008 from Northeast High School, where he was a member of the football and golf teams.
