ALBANY -- A knife-wielding man robbed the Slappey Boulevard Sonic restaurant at 6:15 p.m. Thursday, stated an Albany Police Department report.
"An unknown black male walked inside the business and demanded money from the register," said Phyllis Banks, police spokeswoman. "The employee (at the register) complied after she realized he had a knife."
The suspect got an undetermined amount of cash from the register and a safe, the report stated. He ran out the back of the restaurant toward Cherry Avenue, it added.
A small black SUV, possibly a Hundai, was waiting for the robber according to a witness. The witness got the first two tag letters of the license plate, BP.
Police would like the community's help in locating the SUV and the suspect. He was described as 6 feet tall, weighing 240 pounds.
He has low-cut hair and is in his late 20s or early 30s. He was described as wearing a black do-rag over his face, a black T-shirt and black shorts.
