ALBANY, Ga. -- An Albany man accused of sexually assaulting a 7-year-old girl will go on trial today, court officials say.
Montrevious Spurlin, 20, is charged with offenses including aggravated child molestation, aggravated sodomy and sexual battery. Authorities say he had inappropriate sexual contact with his girlfriend's daughter.
He's also charged with simple battery because investigators say he pushed the mother when she discovered the child abuse, according to the indictment which is filed in Dougherty Superior Court.
Jury selection started Monday and was expected to be completed today, with opening statements set to start soon thereafter.
