MAINEVILLE, OHIO — Josh Broadaway is 36 holes away from winning his first title on the Nationwide Tour.
Broadaway, an Albany native who graduated from Byne Christian and played golf at Troy, has been on the Nationwide Tour for six years, and on Friday he put himself in position to win his first event.
Broadaway torched the course, sinking eight birdies — including six on the front nine — to shoot his second 7-under 65 on Friday in the Chiquita Classic at the TPC River’s Bend Course to take the lead.
He has a two-stroke lead as they tee off today in the four-day tournament, sitting at 130 after two rounds, 14-under, and leading Matt Every and Billy Hurley III, who are at 132.
Broadaway has finished in the Top 25 in Nationwide events 27 times and this would be his 11th finish in the Top 10.
This is his sixth Nationwide event this year, and he has made the last four cuts.
