Former WFXL-TV news director dies

ALBANY -- Terry Graham, the former news director with WFXL-TV, has died. He was 55.

Graham passed away Saturday at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital after a long illness. Upon word of his death, the mood around WFXL-TV was somber on Monday.

"I'm devastated by it," said Deborah Gay, the station's manager. "Terry was a great person to work with. I'm sorry this has happened.

"He was a great employee. He worked numerous hours, was a great motivator and a great mentor to the reporters. Everyone was shocked by (his death)."

Graham had not been employed with the station for the three months prior to his death. Even though he was no longer working there, Gay said he was still considered part of the WFXL family.

"He is definitely going to be missed," she said.

Graham was born in Pike County, Ala., to the late Bennie T. Graham and Flora Jackson Graham. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Dora Jean Garrett, and a brother, Herschel Graham.

Graham's funeral service will be conducted Saturday in the chapel of the Sherwood Christian Academy Lower Campus at 2200 Stuart Ave. at 2 p.m. The family will receive friends following the service in the

SCA chapel.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting contributions be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

Hall & Hall Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Condolences can be made by visiting www.hallandhallfuneralhome.com.
