ALBANY -- The Albany Recreation and Parks Department will be offering a "Fishing Rodeo" before Dougherty County returns to school. The fishing event will be at Ken Gardens Pond, 1509 Ken Gardens Road, on Thursday 8 a.m. until 11 a.m.
The Georgia Department of Natural Resources Wildlife Division will have the pond stocked with channel catfish.
A registry for signing in and out and for listing the number of fish caught by each person is required. A maximum of three poles per person is allowed and a fishing license is required.
The event is free to the public. All children must be supervised by an adult.
"All participants are free to keep the fish they catch to take home and eat, or if they wish to release them back, they may do so," said Bob Takash, park planner for the Albany Recreation and Parks Department.
A family atmosphere will be provided; participants are asked bring their own refreshments, snacks and seating.
For information, contact Takash at (229) 430-5222 or email him at rtakash@albany.ga.us or log onto www.albany.ga.us.
