COLUMBUS -- American Legion Leesburg Post 182 is one win away from a state title.
The kids from 182's 17-and-under Junior team are 2-0 after Friday's and Saturday's first two games as 182 crushed Alpharetta, 10-5, in Game 1 on Friday, then dominated rival Albany Post 30 on Saturday, 12-1, behind a complete game, three-hit performance from Lee County native Landon Whitman.
Post 182 can not sit back and wait to see which team it will face in Monday's championship game at 1 p.m.
Three other teams all have 1-1 records thus far -- Post 30, Buford and Loganville -- and the trio will battle it out today for the right to face 182 for the title. Although, no matter which team makes it, it will have to beat Post 182 twice Monday to win, while Post 182 only has to win once.
Post 30 won its only game against Buford, 16-3, then fell to 182.
