MCLB-ALBANY — Those coming into Marine Corps Logistics Base-Albany Wednesday can expect to experience delays.

The installation will be conducting a full-scale exercise throughout the day, during which time there will be limited access to the base.

On Wednesday, MCLB-Albany emergency personnel will be working with local agencies during the exercise — which will encompass various scenarios to make sure the base’s crisis procedures are functioning properly.

“We want to test procedures we have in place in case of a terrorist attack (or other event),” said 1st Lt. Kyle Thomas, public affairs officer at the base.

Another goal in all of this is to foster better working relationships among all of the agencies and organizations involved, officials say.

The activities are expected to begin around 8 a.m., after which time it is possible the front gate might be temporarily closed.

“If it is closed it will only be for an hour, hour-and-a-half,” Thomas said. “We understand that people have to get to work.

“Some employees may have to take the long way around the base.”

In light of this, those coming onto MCLB are encouraged to plan accordingly. While the exercise is ongoing, individuals will be allowed access to the base on a case-by-case basis.
