ALBANY -- The first Albany Wing Fest 2011 will be Saturday from 11 a.m. - 9 p.m. at the Albany Fairgrounds.

Mr. and Mrs. Rick Schneider who moved to the area just a few years ago from Tampa Bay, have partnered for festivals in the Tampa area and decided to create a day of fun and relaxation for residents in this area.

The event will include live music from area bands, such as Evan Barber & The Dead Gamblers, Relapse and The Bo Henry Band. There will also be a chicken eating contest, a wing competition and a clucking contest. Judges for the contest are Mayor Willie Adams, Jaxon Riley and China Sellers. There will also be free raffles and a kid's play area provided. A entry of $5 per adult, kids 8 and under are free and free entry with active military ID.

Don't worry, if you don't like chicken wings there will be various venders to provide other eats at the festival. "Food, music and fun for the entire family," said Rick Schneider.

Blankets and lawn chairs are welcome. Coolers, animals and weapons are not allowed. A portion of the days proceeds will be donated to the American Cancer Society.
