CONCORD, N.C. -- NASCAR driver Greg Biffle praised his pilots Wednesday for successfully landing his plane after a mechanical failure at a Kentucky airport.
Biffle said the right main landing gear failed and the wing hit the runway as his plane came to a stop at Blue Grass Airport in Lexington.
"My pilots are purely heroes for maintaining control of the aircraft (and) keeping (it) on the runway," he posted on his Twitter page. "If not it wouldn't have been the same outcome."
Biffle characterized the incident as a "small plane accident."
Roush Fenway Racing officials said earlier Wednesday that no one was injured in the incident.
Team owner Jack Roush has survived two plane crashes, including one last year in Wisconsin in which he lost his left eye.
