Art contestants to show off talent

ALBANY -- The Kiwanis Club of Dougherty County will host its annual display of student art on Sunday.

The long-time civic organization will once again display works from students and teachers of Dougherty and Lee counties at the "2011 Student Art Competition and Exhibit.

The event will begin at 2 p.m. with an awards ceremony and reception at the Albany Museum of Art. The winning entries will remain on display through April 15.

All entries will be on display at Albany Mall for the community to view, April 3-17 for elementary school art, and April 17-May 1 for middle and high school art.

On April 30, Kiwanis Club art committee chair persons Ken Rodd and Gail Carter will accompany the top eight contest winners to the Kiwanis Georgia District Statewide competition at West Georgia University in Carrollton.

The annual awards luncheon to honor student and teacher contest winners will be held in conjunction with the Kiwanis Club of Dougherty's weekly meeting at the Hilton Garden Inn on May 2.
