THOMASVILLE -- The Thomasville Garden Club members are preparing for their 90th Standard Flower Show to open at 1:30 p.m. on Friday at the Thomasville Garden Center, 1002 S. Broad St.
The celebration is preceded by a luncheon and fashion show at 12:30 p.m. Friday. The flower show will continue Saturday from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
The show will open Friday with a ribbon cutting and a jazz concert by Thomas University Jazz Band. A new event is a Wine and Cheese tasting at 5:30 p.m.
"The show will remind us of the wonderful special events and non-profit organizations that make our community so exciting and welcoming in spring," said Julia Singletary, show chairman. "We have an excellent creative show planned as well a few new events and design themes associated with the show."
The flower show will feature general horticulture entries, special exhibits such as a display garden, educational exhibits, designs by commercial florists and youth horticultural entries. During the show, those attending will learn about a wide variety of plants that can be grown in Georgia. In addition to the displays guests can expect to see six different classes of floral designs with each category offering four competing displays.
Tickets for the luncheon and fashion show are $15. Tickets for the Wine and Cheese are $15. Advanced reservations are required for the luncheon and fashion and the Wine and Cheese.
