Run, don't walk, to the 'Trojan Trot'

LEESBURG -- The Lee County Middle School PTO is sponsoring a 5K/1 mile run for fun starting at 9:45 a.m. Saturday at the Lee County Middle School gym parking lot, 190 Smithville Road North.

The Trojan Trot is being offered for a second year. For those not already pre-registered, registration will begin at 9 a.m. The 5K run will begin at 9:45 a.m. on a cross country trail. The 1 mile run will begin at 10:30 a.m. on an asphalt route around the school.

The PTO sponsored event seeks to raise funds for technology needs at the school and for miscellaneous needs.

"Lee County Middle School PTO Board is pleased to host the second annual Trojan Trot," said Tammy Murphy, PTO board member. "All proceeds from the race benefit Lee County Middle School."

Registration fees for all students and teachers of Lee County, $10. Pre-registered adults, $15 and kids 5-15 years of age, $10. Fees the day of event are adults $20 and kids $15.

Pre-registration forms can be picked up at Leesburg YMCA, Leesburg Library, IGA, Chamber of Commerce and Lee County Schools or printed from the LCMS website at www.lee.k12.ga.us/schools/lcms/.

A trophy for the overall 5k and 1 mile runners will be awarded. Medals will be given to the top male and female runners in various age groups. Walkers are welcome.

The race will take place regardless of weather. Water and bananas will be provided for all participants.
