LEESBURG, Ga. -- A pregnant teenager from Lee County never made it to her designation Sunday evening.
Heather Aycock, 17, died just before 6 p.m. Sunday after being involved in a car accident just north of the Dougherty-Lee County line.
The incident took place at the intersection of State Highway 520 and Doublegate Drive. The vehicles involved were a tractor trailer and a silver Mustang.
Those who were at the scene have indicated to The Albany Herald that the Mustang was likely making a turn when it was hit by the tractor trailer, an account the Georgia State Patrol did not confirm Monday.
"The crash is under investigation," said Pfc. Darryl Benton, a GSP trooper involved in the investigation. "We can't make a determination of who was at fault, but both vehicles did collide."
The driver of the semi was identified by the GSP as Berry Broadhead of Alabama. The driver of the silver Mustang was confirmed to be Teresa Aycock.
Heather Aycock was sitting in the rear of the Mustang.
