ALBANY -- First, the Westover boys soccer team caught a break. And now, it's time to capitalize.

The Patriots (13-3-2) will host the second round of the GHSA Class AAA State Tournament as a No. 2 seed, rather than having to travel and face the No. 1 team, Drew High School, out of their bracket after Drew was upset by Veterans High School, 4-1, last week in the opener.

Game time is set for 6:30 p.m. today at Westover.

Veterans and Westover have one common opponent in Crisp County, which Westover beat, 7-0 and 9-0, during the regular season, while Veterans beat the Cougars, 5-0.

"From everything I've been told about them, they have methodical footwork and average speed," Westover assistant coach Greg Brown said. "But from the same people who told me that, they also told me we have plenty of talent and speed of our own to handle it."

If Westover wins, it will face the winner of SE Whitefield (Region 7, No. 1) and North Hall (Region 8, No. 3) on Saturday at a time TBD.
