Albany Herald
ALBANY -- You may have already seen him around town the last couple of weeks as he hit the ground running to help cover area sports, but The Herald would like to take this opportunity to officially welcome new sportswriter John Millikan to Albany.
Millikan, an Anderson (Ind.) University grad who majored in journalism with a minor in political science, comes to The Herald after spending two years as sports editor of the daily newspaper, The Sullivan Daily Times in Sullivan, Ind. Millikan will be taking over the vacant college beat writer's position, covering Albany State, Darton College, Georgia Southwestern State and Albany Tech, as well as helping out Herald prep sports writer Mike Phillips with coverage of the paper's 24 area high schools.
"I am excited to have this opportunity to work alongside (Herald sports editor) Danny Aller and Mike Phillips and help them continue to provide excellent coverage of the local sports scene," Millikan said.
Aller said he, too, was glad to add Millikan to The Herald's already award-winning staff.
"John's a great writer and photographer, and he brings all the tools to the table -- and more -- to help keep The Herald's sports section the best source of sports news in Southwest Georgia," Aller said. "We're thrilled to have him on board."
