ALBANY -- The Flint RiverQuarium is helping the public explore a scenic section of the Flint River. Canoe trips can be taken on certain Thursdays or Saturdays starting Thursday and continuing through Oct. 1.
The longer Saturday trips are 8 a.m.-2 p.m., with 45-minute Thursday evening trips available at 6:30 p.m.
In both cases, participants meet at the Flint RiverQuarium, 101 Pine Ave., to get started.
Fees are $25 for the 8 a.m.-2 p.m. trips and $35 for the twilight trip.
"Part of the mission of the Flint RiverQuarium is to inspire appreciation and conservation of the Flint River," said Wendy Bellacomo, marketing manager. "The best way to appreciate the river is to spend time on it. Our guided canoe trips are great for both experienced and novice paddlers."
Steve Rainey, the Dougherty County's Georgia Youth Science Technology Center coordinator, will serve guide for all canoe trips.
Canoes, paddles and flotation devices will be provided.
Contact, Wendy Bellacomo (229) 639-2650, Ext. 221. Space is limited and reservations are recommended.
