ALBANY A reception for the Southwest Georgia College Art Invitational will take place 6 p.m.-8 p.m. Thursday at the Albany Area Arts Council headquarters in the Old Carnegie Library, 215 N. Jackson St.
The reception is to showcase up and coming artists from the Southwest Georgia region. Schools participating in the event are Albany State University and Valdosta State University. This is the council’s eighth year in hosting the invitational.
The art will be on display through Nov. 23.
Students will exhibit displays of art in the areas of painting, drawing, ceramics, sculpture, graphics and photography. The exhibits will be judged and awarded at the reception.
“We are delighted to showcase college-level art to the public and to enhance in their educational experience,” Carol Hetzler, executive director of the Albany Area Arts Council, said. “We strive to display diverse exhibitions to our community.”
Admission to the exhibit is free.
