Participants play Bunko in support of the Southwest Georgia Cancer Coalition in May. A second event will take place at Merry Acres Restaurant on Nov. 15 at 6 p.m.
ALBANY -- Dice will be rolling on Nov. 15 when Bunko enthusiasts and new learners come together for the second "Play Bunko -- Battle Cancer" event hosted by the Southwest Georgia Cancer Coalition.
The dice-rolling fundraiser is back by popular demand after more than 100 women participated in a night of fun and games last spring.
"Before the night was even over participants were asking us when we were going to do it again," said Mandy Flynn, communications and development manager for the coalition. "We are looking forward to another great night of Bunko and fun and raising money to help fight cancer in south Georgia.
"One hundred percent of the proceeds from the event, which will be held at Merry Acres Restaurant, stay in south Georgia to support the coalition's cancer control programs."
According to Flynn, many established Bunko groups are using the event as their monthly get-together.
"A good many of the tickets we have sold are to Bunko groups who look forward to spending time with and meeting other players," she said. "And they are excited about playing a part in the fight against cancer through their donation."
The event starts at 6 p.m. with music by event sponsor and Phoebe oncologist Dr. Jose Tongol and his band JT YoYo's Playing For A Cause, while guests enjoy food, drinks and bid on items during a silent auction. A $1 raffle will also be held for a chance to win an item from clothing boutique Envy. Games begin at 7 p.m.
Sponsors also include OB-GYN Associates at the Veranda, SB&T, Royal Collection and Merry Acres Restaurant.
Tickets are $40 and are available by calling (229) 312-1700 or visiting the coalition's offices at 2332 Lake Park Drive in Albany.
