Squawk of the Day - Nov. 3, 2011

"The Heritage investors are never going to demolish that building. The lot would not be worth even half the cost of demolition. Both sides are aware of this. Prediction of final conclusion: Taxpayers remove building, investors won’t reimburse for it, taxpayers take property, sell property and lose at least $250,000."

BUT the City wins by not having this awful eyesore on display.

No, the City loses by not having the ability to level high enough fines against the investors to compensate it for the work.

True, but sometimes you've gotta do what you've gotta do to rectify the situation. They would never pay the fines anyway.

I dont even think the property would sell. I bet it remains a vacant lot. Who would want it?

Vacant is much better than the way it looks now. Most of the lots that the City has demolished on remain vacant, but that's a much better look than having an old delapidated building or house on it.
