Georgia Southwestern golf coach Andrew Danna is in his second year as head coach and has led his team to three victories this fall.
AMERICUS — The Georgia Southwestern golf team was ranked No. 2 in last week’s NCAA Division II Golfstat standings, and Wednesday the Hurricanes got a little love from coaches around the nation.
The Hurricanes, who won three tournaments this fall, jumped to No. 11 in the Golf World/Nike Division II Coaches’ Poll, which will officially be released in the Monday issue of Golf World.
GSW was ranked No. 24 in last month’s coaches’ poll, which was the first time in the program’s history that it had been nationally ranked. The Hurricanes remained at No. 2 in the Golfstat standings and are now the highest-ranked Peach Belt Conference team in both the Golfstat standings and the coaches’ poll.
“That’s the first time that has happened,” GSW coach Andrew Danna said. “We will use this as motivation to try to put a good spring together. We just need to keep at it. The gas pedal is on the right.”
