Runners take part in last year’s YMCA Holiday Chili Run. The runners hit their marks at 7:45 a.m. Saturday morning.
ALBANY The Albany Area YMCA Holiday Chili Run, a holiday staple for a quarter of a century, will take place Saturday at the YMCA Central Facility, 1701 Gillionville Road. The 1-Mile Fun Run will begin at 7:45 a.m. and the 5K and 15K start at 8:30 a.m.
This event is part of the Run & See Georgia Series. Both the 5K and 15K events will be chip-timed.
Long sleeved t-shirts are guaranteed to each pre-registered runner; awards will be given to the top three finishers in each age group. All runners will receive a goodie bag and a helping of chili from Chili’s Restaurant after the race.
“The YMCA Chili Run has been a fixture on the local running scene for 25 years. The 1-, 3.1- and 9.3-mile options provide a challenge for every level of runner or walker. In addition to great family fun and fellowship, each participant receives a commemorative tee shirt, goodie bag and post-race chili provided by Chili’s Restaurant,” Dave Wallace, executive director of the Albany Area YMCA, said. “The YMCA Chili Run promotes family activity and health and well being and proceeds from the event support YMCA youth and family community outreach programs.”
The funds raised at the event will go toward the support of the youth programs and scholarships with the YMCA.
Registration forms can be picked up at the YMCA Central Facility and at Lee Branch in Leesburg, or register on the day of the event.
