ALBANY, Ga. — This week, Mended Hearts Southwest Georgia Chapter 165 became an early contributer to the annual Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital Lights of Love fundraising campaign.

The organization, which meets monthly to get out health information to heart patients and their families and to provide moral support to heart patients, presented Lights of Love with a check for $100 in recognition of Phoebe’s centennial anniversary this year.

Since it was started by the Junior Woman’s Club of Albany in 1983, Lights of Love has generated more than $1 million to help cancer patients treated at Phoebe.

Phoebe is one of the sponsors of Mended Hearts, which meets at Phoebe Northwest on Dawson Road.

The organization does not conduct meetings in November, when it has its annual holiday dinner, and December, so the next regular meeting is scheduled for Jan. 23 at Phoebe Northwest. Contact Sam Foster at (229) 436-7140 for more information about the organization.

The Lights of Love tree-lighting ceremony is scheduled for 7 p.m. Dec. 12 at Phoebe’s Wetherbee Lobby.
