Gunman attempts to rob lounge

ALBANY, Ga. — The Triple Diamond Lounge was the scene of an attempted armed robbery Monday afternoon.

According to the Albany Police Department, the incident unfolded just before 1:30 p.m. at the lounge, located at 1009 Clark Ave.

A man reported to have been armed with a weapon walked into the lounge and demanded money. At some point, he fired a shot inside the building and then fled.

He may have gotten into a black or green Volvo or Mercedes. He was unsuccessful at getting anything from the business.

Officers were canvassing the scene immediately afterward in search of the suspect and the vehicle. Two other males were in the vehicle, and all three were wearing brown hoodies.

No further information was made available on the incident Monday.

The establishment is no stranger to shootings. In January 2010, an argument took place between the club manager, Tony Reid, and a patron, Johnny Holman. The fight started inside the club, and ended up outside.

During the argument, Reid shot Holman in the abdomen.

Volvo or Mercedes. Should have bought a Kia and then he could afford the payments.

Not the sharpest tack in the box. Cannot successfully rob a bar. The car probably was not his.

Albany could reduce crime if it outlawed hoodies. Perhaps it's me, but it looks like the quality of our robbers has been going down recently. Another failure of the DCSS?
