It remains a tough job climate out there, but do not be discouraged. This can be difficult to manage especially if you are dissatisfied in your current position.
If you are not happy and are, in fact, miserable at work, it might help to try and envision yourself in the position you would like to have at the company you would like to work. I believe that we stay miserable if, in our minds, we believe that we have to be right where we are. Think about that for a moment. That kind of thinking brings on strong feelings. You might feel trapped which makes you afraid, or even angry. When this is the case, I think that the way to create some mental space for yourself is to become aware of the kind of energy your thoughts carry. When we carry a negative energy, very little positive can come our way. The two energies repel one another.
This is why you have to go to your job with the mindset that it is only temporary while imagining yourself doing what it is you ultimately want to do. This will help you feel better and propel you through each day. When you feel better, your energy is changed into more positive energy and this is the energy you need to attract more positive things. Being trapped, just like being free, starts in the mind.
Some people refer to this concept as the Law of Attraction; others refer to it as faith. Either way, if you embrace the concept, there should be fewer disgruntled folks on jobs because they are either where they want to be or on their way. I know that this sounds like one of those easier said than done things, but give it a try. Focus your energy on what you want and steadily position yourself to move into it.
I wrote before about how it is necessary for us to make a conscious decision not to complain. I believe that complaining carries a negative energy that robs us of the opportunity to show gratitude for the good that exists in our lives, which could then bring more for us to be grateful for. As I continue to learn and expand my thinking, I want to share that I am not suggesting that we fight with ourselves about a complaint here or there. Complaining will probably happen, but when it does, as Douglas Flemons would suggest, become curious about your complaints and look for the ways they have set root in your life. Then express gratitude for all the good. Expressing gratitude will distract you from complaining and before you even notice, things will be moving in your favor.
Maybe you don't have a job right now. All of the above applies to you as well. If you feel trapped by the limited job prospects, fear and then desperation could set in. Learn to create space for yourself. We have to deliberately choose to see ourselves in a better place, position, or circumstance.
Some call it the Law of Attraction, others call it faith. Either way, you ought to try it.
