ALBANY — An Albany church is hosting a walk-a-thon Saturday morning with a goal of providing 800 pairs of new shoes for area youngsters during the holiday season.
The event is scheduled from 10 a.m. until noon at the Albany State University track field and is sponsored by the seniors and youth of Christian life Missionary Baptist Church.
Kathryn Lewis said walkers are encouraged to register and make a donation at the walk-a-thon. Also, she said donations from non-walkers are being solicited.
The effort by the church is in support of the HEART organization to provide the shoes.
