ALBANY, Ga. — Albany Technical College will hold a dedication ceremony for the Anthony O. Parker, Ph.D. Library and Media Center at 11 a.m. Monday in the Logistics Education Center with a reception immediately following in the Kirkland Conference Center.

The Albany Technical College Board of Directors voted to name in the new library and media center after the college’s president, who has dedicated the past 16 years to serving as the fifth president of the college.

It’s been under his leadership that the college has experienced unprecedented growth and expansion.

“We are honoring Anthony Parker because of his significant contributions to Albany Technical College,” ATC Board member Ben Barrow said. “I know that might sound trite and lacking, but he has made a positive, significant impact on ATC in every facet as it exists today. He exemplifies excellence in leadership, he delegates well, holds his people accountable but allows them the freedom to grow and develop.

“In addition he is just an overall nice guy.”

Speakers scheduled for the dedication include Ron Jackson, commissioner of the Technical College System of Georgia; Dr. Ivan Allen, president of Middle Georgia Technical College, and Billy Taylor, Albany Tech Student Government Association President.

In addition, a special presentation will be made by U.S. Rep. Sanford Bishop, as well as Debbie Cannon with U.S. Sen. Saxby Chambliss’ office and Jody Redding with U.S. Sen. Johnny Isakson’s office.
