ALBANY -- Xavier Johnson, 30, was arrested for firing a shot from a handgun at another man on the 1700 block of West Whitney Ave. at about 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, stated an Albany Police Department report.

He was booked into Dougherty County Jail and charged with contempt of court and aggravated assault, a jail spokeswoman said.

Albany police responded to at least 27 incidents Wednesday into the early hours of Thursday, according to available police reports. Police responded to incidents including:

-- Theft by taking on the 2200 block of Gail Avenue, the 2200 block of Martin Luther King Drive and the 1100 block of East Third Avenue;

-- Burglary on the 2000 block of Clark Avenue, the 3200 block of Fernridge Drive and the 1700 block of Malone Drive;

-- Disorderly conduct on the 300 block of West Oglethorpe Boulevard;

-- Entering auto on the 500 block of Vick Street;

-- Aggravated assault, a victim alleged she was hit by a car on the 2600 block of Dawson Road;

-- Assault (domestic) on the 500 block of West Oglethorpe Boulevard and the 500 block of West Broad Avenue;

-- Domestic (unfounded) on the 900 block of Peacock Drive, the 1200 block of Hobson Street, the 1500 block of Rena Avenue, the 1300 block of East First Avenue and the 800 block of Corn Avenue;

-- Criminal trespass (domestic) on the 500 block of Ebony Lane;

-- Simple battery (domestic) on the 1400 block of Whispering Pines Road.
