ALBANY, Ga. — The Albany Chorale will host its first “Messiah” sing-along at 7 p.m. Dec. 12 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church on Jefferson Street in downtown Albany.
The peformance is free and open to the public. The chorale plans to make it an annual event.
Dr. Marcia Hood, the chorale’s conductor, said the event is unrehearsed and conducted in a relaxed atmosphere. “We invite singers and non-singers alike to come and experience the beautiful music and the fun of singing Handel’s classic work.” Singers with vocal scores of Messiah are encouraged to bring them. However, scores will be available for use by those who do not have one.
The sing-along will include the first section of the Messiah oratorio as well as the favorite Hallelujah chorus.
“The sing-along is a great way for families and individuals to enjoy and participate in classic holiday music,” said chorale board President Sandra Clift.
