ALBANY, Ga. — The Wetherbee Planetarium has added a new show for the holidays — “Season of Light.”
Officials with the planetarium say that the full-dome production looks at some of the warmest and brightest celebrations of the year, exploring the impact of the sun and light on different cultures throughout history. It offers an explanation for the star of Bethlehem, explains the change of the seasons, and discusses other space objects like constellations, comets, meteors and novae. Suitable for all ages, the run time is approximately 35 minutes.
“Season of Light” is being shown regularly at 10:30 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Thursdays-Saturdays. Planetarium show admission is $3.50 plus tax per person. There is no charge for Thronateeska members, children under 3 years of age and Darton College students. Visitors can also pick up man $8 combo pass good for one planetarium show along with admission to the Flint RiverQuarium.
Thronateeska has extended its operation hours in December. The museum and planetarium will be open 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Dec. 19-23 and Dec. 26-31. Thronateeska is closed on Christmas Eve and Sundays. Contact (229) 432-6955.
